Objectives of SEDAD

(Socio Economic Development Association for Disable)

The Socio Economic Development Association for Disable (SEDAD) works with a clear set of objectives aimed at achieving inclusive development, empowerment, and equality for persons with disabilities across Bangladesh. These objectives guide every project, partnership, and program that the organization undertakes to fulfill its mission of building a just and inclusive society.

SEDAD’s objectives are aligned with national priorities, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and international frameworks such as the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD).


Core Objectives

  1. Promote Education and Skill Development:
    To ensure access to quality education, inclusive learning environments, and vocational skill training for persons with disabilities, enabling them to become self-reliant and productive members of society.
  2. Enhance Economic Empowerment:
    To create livelihood and employment opportunities through entrepreneurship programs, income-generating activities, and access to microcredit and market linkages.
  3. Advance Disability Rights and Social Inclusion:
    To advocate for policy implementation, accessibility, and equal participation of persons with disabilities in all aspects of life — social, cultural, economic, and political.
  4. Improve Health, Rehabilitation, and Well-being:
    To provide access to healthcare services, assistive devices, therapy, and counseling to enhance physical and mental well-being.
  5. Empower Women and Girls with Disabilities:
    To promote gender equality, leadership, and protection of women with disabilities from violence, discrimination, and social exclusion.
  6. Raise Public Awareness and Sensitize Communities:
    To build awareness among families, communities, and institutions to eliminate stigma and promote positive attitudes toward disability inclusion.
  7. Strengthen Institutional Capacity:
    To build the internal capacity of SEDAD and its staff to plan, manage, and implement development programs efficiently and transparently.
  8. Collaborate and Network with Stakeholders:
    To strengthen partnerships with government agencies, NGOs, donors, and international organizations for collective action toward disability-inclusive development.
  9. Promote Inclusive Education for All:
    To ensure that children with disabilities have access to mainstream education systems supported by trained teachers and accessible infrastructure.
  10. Support Policy Development and Research:
    To conduct studies and advocacy to influence policies that protect and promote the rights and opportunities of persons with disabilities.
