Working Area of SEDAD

(Socio Economic Development Association for Disable)

The Socio Economic Development Association for Disable (SEDAD) operates with a strategic focus on regions where persons with disabilities face significant social, economic, and educational challenges. SEDAD’s working area is designed to maximize impact, ensure accessibility, and reach underserved populations, particularly in urban, semi-urban, and rural communities across Bangladesh.

By concentrating its interventions in selected areas, SEDAD is able to deliver holistic programs, foster community participation, and monitor progress effectively, ensuring that every initiative directly benefits its target groups.

Geographical Coverage

  1. Urban Areas:
SEDAD operates in Dhaka city and other major urban centers to address challenges faced by persons with disabilities living in densely populated environments, including access to education, employment, healthcare, and inclusive infrastructure.
  2. Semi-Urban Areas:
Programs are implemented in suburban towns where support services are limited, focusing on livelihood opportunities, awareness campaigns, and capacity-building initiatives to empower marginalized communities.
  3. Rural Areas:
In rural regions, SEDAD works closely with local communities to identify needs, provide vocational training, assistive devices, health services, and educational support, ensuring that rural persons with disabilities are not left behind in development efforts.

Focus on Target Groups

SEDAD tailors its interventions based on the needs of specific beneficiary groups, including:

  • Children and teenagers with disabilities, especially autistic children.
  • Women and girls with disabilities facing gender-based barriers.
  • Persons with physical, sensory, or intellectual disabilities in marginalized communities.
  • Families and caregivers of persons with disabilities to provide support and guidance.

Community Engagement

SEDAD emphasizes community-based approaches within its working areas to ensure sustainability and local ownership of programs. This includes:

  • Collaborating with local government institutions, schools, and healthcare providers.
  • Mobilizing community volunteers and local leaders to advocate for inclusive practices.
  • Conducting awareness and sensitization campaigns to reduce stigma and discrimination.
