Vocational Skill Development

Vocational Skill Development

The Vocational Skill Development Program of SEDAD (Socio-Economic Development Association for Disabled) is designed to equip persons with disabilities, marginalized women, and unemployed youth with practical and market-oriented skills that enhance their employability and economic independence.

Recognizing that lack of skills and opportunities often leads to social and economic exclusion, SEDAD provides targeted training and support to help individuals gain the competencies needed to enter the workforce or start their own businesses.

Key Activities

  • Technical and Trade Training: Courses on tailoring, handicrafts, computer operations, electrical work, mobile servicing, and other income-generating skills based on market demand.

  • Entrepreneurship and Business Development: Training in business planning, marketing, and financial management to support self-employment and small enterprise development.

  • Job Placement Support: Building partnerships with local businesses, industries, and government programs to create job opportunities for trained participants.

  • Inclusive Training Environment: Ensuring accessibility for trainees with disabilities through adaptive tools, sign language interpretation, and disability-sensitive teaching methods.

  • Follow-Up and Mentorship: Providing continuous guidance and mentoring to help trainees sustain their employment or entrepreneurial ventures.

Impact

Through the Vocational Skill Development initiative, SEDAD has empowered numerous persons with disabilities and disadvantaged individuals to achieve financial self-reliance, improved living standards, and greater social inclusion. The program contributes directly to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by promoting decent work, reduced inequalities, and inclusive economic growth.
