Legal Status of SEDAD
(Socio Economic Development Association for Disable)
The Socio Economic Development Association for Disable (SEDAD) is a duly registered, non-governmental, non-profit, and voluntary organization established in 1992 to promote the rights, welfare, and socio-economic empowerment of persons with disabilities in Bangladesh. The organization operates in full compliance with the laws and regulations of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.
1. Registration under the NGO Affairs Bureau
SEDAD is registered with the NGO Affairs Bureau under the Foreign Donation Regulation Act, Prime Minister’s Office, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.

This registration authorizes SEDAD to receive and utilize foreign donations and grants for implementing development programs across Bangladesh.
2. Registration under the Department of Social Services
SEDAD is also registered under the Social Welfare Act with the Department of Social Services, Ministry of Social Welfare, Government of Bangladesh.

This registration enables SEDAD to operate as a recognized social welfare organization, implementing community-based programs focusing on disability, women’s empowerment, education, and rehabilitation.
3. Legal and Financial Compliance
SEDAD maintains transparent financial and administrative systems in accordance with government rules and donor regulations.
The organization’s accounts are maintained under a double-entry bookkeeping system.
All financial transactions are audited annually by government-approved Chartered Accountant firms.
Audit and project reports are regularly submitted to the NGO Affairs Bureau, relevant ministries, and donor agencies.

SEDAD operates under a duly elected Executive Committee, led by an Executive Director, ensuring sound governance, policy formulation, and compliance with national and international standards.
